Bonjour,

Request for information after the visit of the insectarium section.

Good morning,
In the insectarium and poisonous anthropods section we saw that animal (photo attached), but without any explanation.
What is it? Where can we find it? What does it live on? Why is it dangerous? What is the white ball at the top? Does it always stand upright?
Thanks a lot and best regards.

Bonjour,

Good morning,
I want to thank you, indeed I feel grateful for your investment.
We were a whole group in front of the work, and we all thought it was either an animal or a plant. It strangely looked like an amphisben, quite widespread in South-America. In Brazil, the most common species is Amphisbaena alba, the white amphisben. This looked most strange as it was discovered recently and there must be only 3 visible ones in the world. As a matter of fact it is regrettable that it should be in the middle of amphibians, snakes, etc… without explanation. Anyway, thanks a lot and best regards.
